Gewürztraminer is the most provocative of white grapes. Where other varieties work within the conventions of restraint and minerality, Gewürztraminer announces itself immediately and without apology: lychee, rose petal, ginger, spice. Its name means 'spiced Traminer' and the description barely does it justice. In the Grand Cru vineyards of Alsace — Rangen, Hengst, Goldert — it achieves something remarkable: full body, low acid, and an aromatic intensity that continues to evolve in the glass. At its greatest, from producers like Zind-Humbrecht, it is one of the most complex wines in France. Fragrant Rebellion honours this completely: she refuses the rules of refinement. She is here to be unforgettable.

Every WiWwaW portrait begins not with a canvas or a lens but with a moodboard — a private, intuitive assembly of words, colours, textures and images that together form the wine's character translated into a woman. The moodboard for Fragrant Rebellion travels with the finished work to its collector: a window into the creative process, a second layer of the work itself.

"He doesn't make artworks. He creates encounters."
